Courageous Advocacy
What is courageous advocacy?
At Hebden Royd C of E Primary School, we believe in nurturing our children to become courageous advocates, not just within our local community but also on a national and global scale. A courageous advocate is someone who passionately supports and speaks up for causes that matter deeply to them. It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in and to strive for change.
We understand that everyone faces challenges at some point in their lives, and it’s essential to have the support needed to overcome these barriers. Our teaching emphasises the importance of helping others, regardless of their background or struggles. We incorporate this ethos through our values work, connections to the Bible, and exploration of various faiths and worldviews, as well as learning about inspiring advocates who have made a difference.
We encourage our children to engage in meaningful discussions and debates about significant issues, to challenge injustices, and to participate in activities that foster change. Our Eco Council is a fantastic example of how our students can take action and make a positive impact on the world around them.
Through various fundraising initiatives we aim to instill a strong sense of belonging and responsibility in our children. We want them to appreciate their role in the community and understand the importance of caring for our world and its inhabitants, aligning with our core values of commitment, courage, curiosity, and compassion.
