What do we learn in Year 5/6?

In Year 5 children will be encouraged to take on more responsibility and become more independent. Although there is no statutory test at the end of Year 5, Mr Robinson and Mrs Hulme will assess your child throughout the year to make sure that your child is coping well with the demands of the curriculum and that support is put in place if required.

Year 6 is the final year of Key Stage 2. This is the year of the Key Stage 2 SATs in May, before some well-earned relaxation and preparing for the transition to secondary school. The year is busy but fun-filled and the children are given many opportunities both in class and through visits/trips to prepare themselves for their next step on their learning journey. We always aim to support all of our Year 6 children and families to ensure secondary transition and preparing for change goes as smoothly as possible.
