School Meals
School Dinners
All meals are freshly prepared in Todmorden CE School’s 5 star kitchen. Every meal is served with salad and vegetables. Dietary requirements are catered for with daily vegetarian, vegan or halal options. A daily lunch costs £2.80. We operate an advance ordering system where parents choose their child’s lunches, each term, using a Microsoft Form: Invoices for school lunches are sent by email every half-term and should be paid for by bank transfer. All account details are specified within the email.
As our lunches are ordered two weeks in advance, we are unable to make changes on the day. We kindly request that you provide at least two weeks’ notice, barring illness, if you wish to change any menu choice or cancel a meal. Please note that failure to do this will result in you being charged for that day.
Free school meals
Reception, and Year 1 & 2 children are entitled to a ‘Universal Free School Meal’ - families do not need to pay.
Pupils in KS2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6) are charged £2.80 per day, unless they qualify for ‘free school meals’ (application required).
Although there is no longer a need for parents/carers to claim a free school meal for pupils in Reception, year 1 or 2, we strongly encourage you to do so. If your child is entitled to free school meals, they also qualify for Pupil Premium (see below).
A free school meals application can be made here : Free School Meals Application
Children are entitled to free school meals if their parents or guardians get:
Universal Credit – your net earned income must be less than £7,400;
Income Support;
Job Seeker's Allowance (income based);
Employment and Support Allowance;
Child Tax Credit, and have an annual income of less than £16,190 (as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs);
Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit;
Support payments under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
Working Tax Credit Run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit);
Universal Credit.
If you get Working Tax Credit, your child(ren) are not entitled to free school meals.
Packed lunches
It’s also possible for pupils to bring in packed lunches from home if you wish. These should be healthy meals, without sugary snacks and fizzy drinks.
No nuts please - food containing nuts is not allowed in any packed lunches due to allergies. Please help us keep all our children safe by following this important rule.
Free fruit
We love fruit! There’s often fresh fruit around in school. In Early Years there’s always plenty of fresh fruit available which children can help themselves to. Fruit is always free.
Milk
We have fresh milk to drink every day. For children under 5, and those on free school meals, this is provided for free. For children over 5, it is optional, and paid for via the Cool Milk website.
