Great British Spring Clean

The children took part in The BIG Spring Clean as part of our drive to become a Eco School. With the help of Calderdale Waste and Recycling Services, who provided bin bags and litter pickers for the children we embarked on cleaning up our local area.

Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations.

This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions. Their aims are:

  • CUT LITTER

  • END WASTE

  • IMPROVE PUBLIC PLACES

  • EDUCATE FUTURE GENERATION

Year 5/6 walked from school along the towpath to Hebden Bridge and managed to fill 15 bags of litter. Year 3/4 wandered down the school field and cleared up all the litter from the woodland area and around the brown site, while Year 1/2 went up to Eaves Park and searched the hedges and woodland.
