Planting Our Future: UKS2 and EYFS Buddies Grow Oak Trees Together
This week, our UKS2 pupils joined their EYFS buddies for a very special project — planting acorns!
Armed with trowels, compost, and plenty of enthusiasm, the children worked in pairs to fill pots, tuck their acorns safely into the soil, and give them a good watering. Our older pupils did a fantastic job guiding their younger friends, showing them how to handle the tools and explaining what the acorns need to grow into mighty oak trees.
As they worked, the pairs chatted about nature, growth, and how something so small can one day become a home for birds and squirrels. Everyone is now excited to keep checking on their little trees as they sprout and grow over the coming months.
It was a lovely afternoon full of teamwork, learning, and muddy hands — a perfect reminder that from small beginnings, big things really do grow!
