Hi. I'm Rob Paton, head teacher of this hidden gem of a primary school.

Hebden Royd CE Primary School is set back from the main road in a beautiful setting, just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Hebden Bridge, so some of you may not even know we're here.

We're a small school that strives to make a big difference, not only for our children today but throughout their lives. Our size and location help us to build a particularly strong sense of community, both within and around our school. The older children get to know and help the younger ones as buddies. Children spend time with the residents of the retirement home overlooking our school field, and we work with local arts organisations to creatively explore and appreciate the nature that surrounds us.

Hebden Royd is a caring, family-friendly school. Not only do we have a fantastic team of teachers, support staff and governors who are passionate and dedicated, but our families and children are also wonderfully supportive of one another. Our shared values connect the whole school community, and everything we do, every decision we make, has our children at its heart.

Learning here is vibrant, inclusive and fun, and our children love coming to school. Our carefully designed curriculum is both broad and deep, and we take every chance to celebrate and nurture the unique qualities and skills of each child. We want every child to make excellent academic progress, but just as importantly, to develop a love of learning and an open, inquisitive mind.

We are very proud of our Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction, which reflects our commitment to caring for our environment and inspiring children to value the world around them.

At Hebden Royd CE Primary School, we also believe in nurturing our children to become courageous advocates, not just within our local community but also on a national and global scale. We aim to instil in our children the qualities of good people who want to go out there, ask questions and make a difference. They go on to high school with the educational and emotional foundations they need to succeed, and with the confidence, skills and character to soar.
