Footsteps - stepping back in time

On Monday 17th June Year 5 had an action packed day taking part in the footsteps project at Cragg Vale Church. During the day the children learnt more about life in the local Victorian mills and the work which Thomas Crowther did to improve children’s working conditions.

There were a number of practical workshops including weaving, rubbing old Victorian and Edwardian coins, dressing up like mill children and taking part in a reconstruction of the dangerous machinery (don’t worry string was used rather than moving parts!). All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and worked very hard!
