Welcome to the Year 6 class page. This is a year in which the children hone all of their skills, both academic and personal and hopefully grow in maturity as they get ready for high school. We expect independence, assertiveness and the ability to take responsibility.
This half term we are working on:
MATHS – place value and the four operations
ENGLISH – grammar consolidation and revision, applying grammar in our writing. Letter writing, dairy writing and poetry – all linked to our WW1 topic. The fantasy genre.
TOPIC – WW1
GUIDED READING – Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo
SCIENCE: Changing state
RSE: Democracy, choices (consequences & rewards), Citizenship (locally & globally)
RE: What does it mean if God is holy and loving?

What’s happening in Year 6?
This April we held a beautiful exhibition of art created by all our year groups.
Year 6 enjoyed a brilliant residential adventure near Skipton.
Easter at Hebden Royd is always a very special celebration at our school, and this year was no different.
Year 6 went to Hebden Bridge Town Hall to share their Bollywood dance with various adult community groups.
From 8-17 March we took part in British Science Week, a fantastic chance to inspire the scientists, engineers and mathematicians amongst all of us.
